Blog Designs is now live!

Saturday 29 September 2012

I have some really exciting news, some of you know that for the last few months I have been working on creating blog designs for blogger.. well, today that has gone live, YEY!

I have just finnished the lovely Emma from Glossy Boutique's blog design, which you can check out here  . Thank you for being my first design Emma!

I am looking to do both custom made templates for people as well as some pre-made templates that I have designed. To make it super easy, I have set up a cartel shop for all you lovely bloggers to have a brose of my designs.

I currently have 3 pre made templates on there, of which 2 are halloween themed as I love this time of year.

Come and have a look at my store here and let me know what you think!

I will be adding other services to the store over the next week or so, such as Button designing, Social media buttons and header designs.

If you have any questions send me an email!

Thanks Junkies

Mean Stinks!

Tuesday 25 September 2012

I recently saw that Joanna from The Treasure Chest did a post about something called Mean Stinks which is a campaign against bullying in all it's forms. This is something that I was really interested in being involved in as I think bullying is awful and unfortunately in this digital age it is becoming easier for people to bully others or 'troll' as it is also known anonymously and easily over the Internet. More and more people are being subjected to some form of bullying and I believe that if we all pull together and take note of the bullying that takes place, we can put a stop to this.

The campaign sees people painting their pinkie nail's blue to show their support and commitment against bullying and saying that Being Mean Stinks.

You can find more information about the Mean Stinks campaign here

You can also watch the inspirational video here

Come on and get involved and together we can make a difference!

Weekly Wishes

Tuesday 18 September 2012

This weeks wish list has some pretty pricey items on it.. however I think that is what a wish list is for and you never know who may be looking at your wish list for Christmas (in my dreams)

1 - Blue Scarf Snood, River Island

If you have seen my previous post about my favourite little things in Autumn you will know that I love a big chunky scarf. I love to wear bright colours that I wear with either my black or cream coats to make them really stand out. (if you have not seen my post, you can here ) I love River Island's clothes too, I could wear them all the time!

2 - Liz Earle, Sheer Skin Tint

As do most bloggers, I love Liz Earl products, I think they are so luxurious and smell delicious, along with doing wonders for your skin. I have read on many different blogs that the Sheer Skin Tint by Liz Earl is  most have so I am hoping to give this a go soon too!

3 - Halo, 20" Remy Human Hair in Light Brown

I am desperate for long hair! I have been growing my hair for a good year or so now and have just reached below my shoulders. I first saw Halo's on twitter and thought they were fab, you just place the ring under your hair on the crown part of your head and brush through to have lovely locks in under 3 mins.... AMAZE! also there is no chance of any bonds or clips showing!

4 -  HoMedics me Quartz permanent hair reduction

I want this Sooo bad! I suffer pretty badly with dark hair in places that I do no want it to be so am forever shaving, waxing and bleaching. all my answers could be answered with this reduction system that you can do at home. If I had £400 spare this is defiantly the product that I would buy, I wish you could hire this sort of thing...

5 - Michael Kors MK5464 Watch

I really love these watches, I know they have been popular with bloggers for a few years now. My friend recently picked one up in rose gold and it is beautiful.. I am hoping for this for Christmas (hint hint... )

Thank you for checking out my wish list this week, what is on your wish list? I'd love it if you could leave your links below for me to have a read.

Wowze....to my new Dry Shampoo

Monday 17 September 2012

Well as my title to this post implies, I have found a new dry shampoo which I LOVE. I have always used Batiste dry shampoo on my locks when I needed an extra day or just plain can't  be bothered to wash my hair.

Batiste always did what I wanted it to do, which was to get rid of any grease that had built up in my hair however I always felt that it gave me a white tint to my hair which no matter how much brushing I did, never quite went away.

I was in boots the other day, spending money for the sake of it as usual and thought I would try a different dry shampoo and picked up Schwarzkopf Got 2b Rockin 'it dry shampoo since then I have not picked up Batiste again!

Got2b does not leave ANY white marks on my hair, even if I spray it too close which is good and has saved me from allot of embarrassing times! it also does not really have a heavy perfumed smell, which I also like as I think that Batiste has such a recognisable smell, it is obvious when you need to wash your hair....

What is your favourite dry shampoo?

I Love Autumn

Sunday 16 September 2012

Its true, if I am honest I am glad that Summer is cumming to an end and the evenings are drawing in. There are so many things that I enjoy about this time of year, for some reason it makes me feel all romantic and cosy.

Here are my top 10 little things that make me happy in Autumn.

Primer Wars

Saturday 15 September 2012

Howdy,

My post today is all about primers, one thing that I am quite new to but has become a staple in my personnel makeup case. I have pretty oily skin so it it is important that any primer that I use is oil free or I will break out.

I have tried a few different brands, both high end and cheaper drug store brands, but the one I have been using most recently has been Benefit's Pore Professional which gives you a silky layer over your skin to allow you to apply your foundation easily. It is pretty pricey at £23.50 . I was about to take the plunge to re purchase, when I got Septembers She Said Beauty box, which I reviewed here.

I gave it a pretty harsh review when I saw the main brand was collection 2000, this was however before I had been able to give the products a run for their money - one of the products being a primer...

So what better than to put the two products head to head..

September Wishlist

Wednesday 12 September 2012

I Love the Autumn and although I am aware that it is only September and it could still be classed as Summer, I get really excited at this time of year as I know for the next few months the tress will turn brown the air will cool and I will be able to pull on my cosy jumpers and Ugg boots in front of our fire.

This month’s wish list for me mainly features hair care products and skincare products; I like to ensure that during the colder months my locks and skin stay fresh.

Alpha - H Liquid Gold

I have heard great things about this product from various bloggers, you are meant to apply to your skin every other night before bed. It contains glycolic acid which is recognised for its 'rejuvenating' qualities ( I think it's a little scary, the thought of putting acid on my face) however it is meant for the treatment and reduction of minor skin complaints such as, fine lines, wrinkles acne and breakouts. these are all things that I have on my skin. I am really looking forward to giving this a go.

Moroccon Oil Treatrment

Again this is another product that I have heard great things about. I suffer from awful frizz if I do not straighten my hair every day, this frizz gets worse when I add bleach to the combo so I love anything that can tame my locks. I currently use Fizz Ease which I do like but I find I have to add allot to get it under control. This for me is a must buy on payday.

Daniel Sandler Super Gloss - Super Necter

I am loving oranges and corals at the moment I think it is such a nice autumn colour. I also love Daniel Sandler makeup which I was new to this year, so would love to give this a go.

Orla Kiely Home Diffuser - Sage & Cassis

Sage is 'in' apparently at the moment as a home fragrance (not sure how a home smell can be fashionable, but hey) I love reed diffusers as they give you a lovely long lasting smell that fills the whole house whilst looking pretty on your shelves.

Paul Mitchell Volumising Spray

Another hair product. I am in love with Paul Mitchell hair care, I first came across them from my local hair dressers when I bought his Super Slip which helps your hair dry in supersonic time, amazing! I also use his heat defence spray too which is lush. My hair is pretty flat unless I add product, so this is another I must try next month.

Kms California Colorvitality Blonde Treatment

I have recently Ombre my hair, which as I have mentioned above, looks great but does nothing for the condition. My friend recently bought over some 'purple shampoo' which is meant for the treatment of bleached hair. Apparently, the purple tones counter act the brassy and yellow tones from the bleach whilst conditioning your hair back to full strength... sound too good to be true?! I will sure let you know

Thanks for stopping by to see my wish list, what is on your list this week? I'd love to see your lists, so please leave your links in the comment section below

Thank you!

Ellen

She Said Beauty, September Beauty Box - First impressions

Monday 10 September 2012

So this is the first time that I have received a She Said Beauty box, in all honesty I am quite new to beauty boxes in general, I have had 3 Glossy Boxes I think.

I am still very undecided about the boxes, I have yet to receive an item that I have felt was really good value for money, either because it was a full size product or a product that I have seen before and wanted.

This box does come a little earlier int he month than Glossy Box. It frustrates me so much that they charge you around the 1st of the month and then do not send it out until the 17th! I know it's only £12 or so but in this day my pennies are important to me!

I think I will keep my subscription to She Said Beauty for October to see if this is just a bad month as I like to give everything a fair try.

So here are my first impressions..

I love the colour of the box, however I was a little disappointed that it had a flip lid rather than a lid you can take off like the Glossy Box as I like to use the boxes for makeup storage afterwards and I think that this box may be a little difficult to do such things.... maybe I am being fussy...

My New Camera.. exciting stuff!

Sunday 9 September 2012

So.. As the title of this post suggests, I have splashed out and invested in a new DSLR camera for myself.

This is something that I have wanted to get for the longest time, I love photography ( I am just a wee beginner) and I really wanted to be able to put sharp spangly photos on my blog as I think it makes SUCH a difference! I have done so much research around the camera that I wanted as there are so many, I wanted something really versatile for every day use.

I ended up getting a Canon EOS D600 which I have also seen alot of bloggers using.

I am not going to lie, it was pretty expensive however I see it as an investment, I also love the thought of all the special memories that we are going to be able to capture in the future.

Me and Peter took her out for a spin today, as the weather was so nice where we live today, we wanted to take our puppy for a walk to one of the prettiest villages near us, so I thought why not share the pictures with you, so you can see my new baby in action.

Sorry to those of you who are here just for the beauty, I promise I will be adding a new beauty post tomorrow.

I am really looking forward to joining in the #bbloggers chat tonight which is all about picture techniques.

Thanks for stopping by! Until next time I will leave you with some shots.

Being Happy

Thursday 6 September 2012

I have spent far too long of my life feeling negative and sad. I feel that I can now admit this, however for a long time I was in denial and didn’t fully appreciate how I really felt.

I have written a post about the things in my life that made me feel this way, which I might share with you one day however at the moment,I wanted to share with you the things that I live by, ‘rules’ you may say, and have done for the last few years that have helped me  ‘Be Happy’ and love my life alot more than I ever have.

I have been very lucky, in that I have met my true soul mate – (I am aware this sounds rather airy fairy and all that, but really!)  My soul mate, Peter is the only person I have had in my life, that I believe has truly loved me, unconditionally. It’s the kind of love that makes you feel secure and appreciated and I know he loves ME for ME and I don’t need to be anyone else with him. He is also the only person in my life that I have loved unconditionally, I respect him and his views (even though sometimes I argue to high heaven) and more importantly, I respect that he has taught me how to be happy and look at life through a different lens to how I was before.

I wanted to write this post to share with you these simple ‘rules’ I guess that I try to follow in my life, some of you may read this and think that I am looking at the world through rose tinted glasses and I am living in a glass house, and to those people I say.. Maybe I am, but for me, that is what makes me happy so I am happy to continue to do so J

I must say to you that I am not a qualified councillor, so these may not work for everyone. I am also not a hippy, or a freak, who thinks there are pixies in my garden, or unicorns in the sky. I am a ‘normal’ adult who had a tough start to life which I can now see that I let this effect me for far too long.
